Videography is very important when planning your
Destination Wedding. There are a few things that should be considered
when choosing a video company, such as Digital video equipment, wireless
sound, music and shooting style. Common wedding video styles
range from "journalistic" to "cinematic".
Video Journalistic Style
is typically described as a documentary of the event. Segments
are edited as they occur to preserve continuity. This style of editing
will produce a polished documentation of the day as it unfolds. Also can
be referred to as Documentary Style.
Cinematic
the term is defined as making a movie or
film. Within the wedding videography industry it has taken on the
following meaning: It is captured and edited for the dramatic effect and
mood. It is usually presented with a particular style and
"wow" effect that may not be present in a "mere
documentary" of the event.
Storytelling
is a video that relies on sound bites recorded pre, during or in
post, usually from the bride and groom. These sound bites are then added
to the audio track for dramatic effect and to push the story of the day
forward.
Short Form Wedding
is a video of the day that has been
edited to fit within a time frame that is no less than 15 minutes and no
longer than 50 minutes.
Traditional
is a catch all term for styles that do
not fit with above. Traditional tends to look more like a family shot
video, it can be edited, but usually lightly. Everything is edited in a
linear progression and usually in its entirety.
Wedding videographers are not limited to using just one
of these styles, you can find different amounts of styles in every
video.
DVD
There are several types of DVDs and DVD players out there and they
are not all alike. Some of the different types are DVD+R, DVD-R,
Blu-Ray and Glass Mastered. Although there are many differences, the
biggest of which is Glass Mastered (the ONLY TYPE that WILL play in any
DVD player) and Blu-Ray (true High Definition). DVD-R is the most widely
used. Blu-Ray is considered Full High Definition although DVD-R will
play High Definition Quality Video.
Music
When choosing your music consider the tempo of your video and share this
with your videographer as this will make your video much better. The
tempo and mood of the video are set by the music. Although you are
in the spotlight, it is the music that will set the mood.
Choosing Your Videographer
You should discuss all aspects of your video with your
videographer, remember there are no dumb questions. It
is better to ask than be surprised later. You should be
able to contact your videographer easily. We offer a
Toll-Free number (1-877-686-3686) in which to be contacted and welcome
any questions. Always try to view a videographers work prior to hiring
be it via the internet or a demo. Take into consideration that editing
has been done. This will be a good way to view a
videographers style.
Video Equipment
Digital is the only way. As in all things there are many different
levels of camera. One simple way to judge the quality is the size
of the chips in the camera. There are 1/3,1/2,and 2/3 inch
available in SD, all of which will do a fine job. HD is also
available in 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 inch and Super 35mm however these cameras are
also effected by the size of the chip. Higher end standard definition
cameras will deliver a superior picture in low light to the low to
medium end HD cameras. To sum up this statement, 1/3 inch HD camera
produce a less appealing picture than 1/2 inch Standard Definition
cameras. For true HD Super 35mm or larger chip cameras are the only ones
to use. Remember, there are no dumb questions!
Video Locations
Lighting is the main concern for your video when choosing a
location. Because video cameras do not have a flash, lighting is very
important. You should avoid shooting directly at the sun.
Wireless Sound
The sound should always be wireless as this is the only way. CAMERA
MICROPHONES CANNOT BE HEARD.
These are just some of the things that
can make your video great. Please call, email, or write to discuss
further.
Thank You,
